Vega Baja Hospital expansion completion pushed back to the first quarter of 2027

The project is more than 90% complete, according to the regional health department, after construction began in March 2023. The works were awarded for €62.5 million, while the overall investment has since risen to more than €82 million after project changes and additional flood-protection measures.

The completed expansion will add two buildings and 14,700 square metres, increasing the hospital’s surface area by 40%. It will provide 52 extra hospital beds, more outpatient and nursing consultations, new day-hospital facilities, operating capacity and a larger range of services for residents across the Orihuela health area.
