The operation, known as Puntas, was carried out by the Guardia Civil’s Nature Protection Service with environmental officers from the regional government. The cases were uncovered during the deer rutting season, when mature males are especially vulnerable to illegal hunting.

In Caravaca de la Cruz, officers linked a vehicle and rifle case to a suspected hunter who allegedly shot a 14-point stag without permission. In a separate case, investigators identified a man in a social-media video allegedly showing the killing of an 11-point stag on a private estate. Both men also face administrative proceedings for possible breaches of hunting regulations.
