The drugs were found in 40 bundles hidden aboard a fishing vessel that had docked at Santa Pola port. Investigators say the cargo was concealed under fishing nets and packed into containers as part of an alleged trafficking operation connected to the Alicante coastline.
The investigation focused on suspected maritime activity involving the collection of drug shipments at sea and their transfer to the Spanish coast. Four of the suspects have been remanded in custody, while another person is under investigation. The Guardia Civil announced the operation on Tuesday, 3 November.
