The action is being backed by the country’s two largest unions, UGT and CCOO, alongside housing campaigners and other workers’ organisations. Their demands include higher wages, better employment conditions, shorter working hours and urgent measures to address rising housing costs. The strike will take place 18 days before Spain’s general election on 29 November.

Alicante-Elche, Murcia and other airports could see cancellations or delays if airline, ground-handling or other essential staff join the walkout. Renfe services, including AVE high-speed trains and regional routes, may run reduced timetables, while buses and metro systems could also be affected. Travellers are advised to check operators regularly, allow extra time and consider alternatives. The exact impact will depend on participation and minimum-service arrangements.
