Orihuela museum opens retrospective of artist José Ferrández Ortuño
The Museo de la Reconquista in Orihuela is hosting a retrospective of painter, illustrator and graphic designer José Ferrández Ortuño from 4 November to 1 December.
The exhibition brings together oils and tempera works on paper and canvas, offering an overview of a versatile Orihuela-born artist whose work covered painting, graphic design and drawing. His pieces are held in public and private collections across Orihuela, Alicante and Murcia, as well as in religious institutions.
The show highlights his use of colour, composition and Mediterranean light, alongside his work in visual communication. He also worked in visual communication and collaborated with several media outlets, including the Información newspaper.
The Culture Department of Orihuela Town Hall says the exhibition is intended to bring local artistic heritage closer to residents and visitors. Ferrández Ortuño was born in Orihuela in 1933 and won the First National Painting Prize from the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Atocha in 1957.
