Orihuela tenders accessibility and road-safety works near CEIP Miguel Hernández

Orihuela City Council has put out to tender works to improve pedestrian access and road safety around CEIP Miguel Hernández, with a base budget of €59,968.63 including VAT.

The project covers Calle Oriolanos Ausentes, between the Avenida de la Vega roundabout and IES Thader, together with Huerta, Pintor Fernando Fenoll and La Encina streets near the school. The council says the work is intended to make daily journeys safer for pupils, families and residents.

Planned measures include rebuilding crossings and dropped kerbs, installing tactile paving and repairing pavements and kerbs. The project also addresses level changes and obstacles that make pedestrian movement more difficult, particularly in an area with heavy foot traffic at school arrival and departure times.

Other work includes relocating or removing telecommunications posts and similar vertical elements, improving tree pits and repairing damage caused by roots. The tender has a base budget of €59,968.63, including VAT.
