Five arrested after cocaine laboratory uncovered in Torrevieja
Five people have been arrested in Torrevieja after the Guardia Civil uncovered a drug-selling operation and a cocaine laboratory in two homes during the second phase of Operation MALUKA.
The investigation began when officers noticed that criminal activity appeared to have resumed at a property already examined during the first phase of the operation. Surveillance, including observations of a person travelling by electric scooter, led investigators to two homes linked to the suspected activity.
With support from the Torrevieja Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) and the Guardia Civil’s Alicante canine service, officers searched both properties. One was allegedly being used to sell drugs and the other as a laboratory. They seized more than a thousand euros in cash, cocaine, marijuana and hashish, along with substances prepared for sale and materials used for preparation, packaging and dosage.
The detainees—three women aged 70, 43 and 37, and two men aged 35 and 30—face alleged drug-trafficking and criminal-organisation offences. After appearing before the Torrevieja court, all five were released with charges pending, according to information issued by the Guardia Civil on 6 November.
