Malaga shop owner taken to hospital after alleged robbery attack
A 54-year-old shop owner was taken to hospital after a hooded group allegedly struck her with a metal advertising sign during an attempted robbery in Malaga last Friday.
The woman was confronting five attackers outside the Asian bazaar she runs with her husband in the Bailen-Miraflores neighbourhood when the group allegedly used an ice-cream advertising sign to hit her over the head. She needed stitches, although her injuries were not life-threatening.
Her husband was also attacked while trying to get away but did not need hospital treatment. Witnesses said the group arrived on electric scooters and threw fruit at the shop window before the confrontation. Police are investigating and looking for the five attackers; no arrests have been reported.
Sources cited by Diario SUR said the incident was the second involving the shop owners in two days. The previous day, a group had reportedly harassed and intimidated the couple, who then contacted police.
